Rabbi Michael Shevack
Rabbi Michael Shevack is an inter-religious leader, author/co-author of four books, including his latest, The Six Fix: A Simple, Spiritual Guide for Restoring America's Goodness (www.thesixfix.com).
Rabbi Shevack has been Communications Director at the Center for Christian-Jewish Dialogue at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport Connecticut, as well as an adjunct professor teaching spirituality and comparative religion in the School of Social Welfare at Stonybrook (SUNY). He is on the board of the Patton Foundation, founded by Helen Patton, the granddaughter of General Patton, a humanitarian organization to help soldiers and their families. He is also on the board of the Center for Spirituality in Health Education at Stonybrook. Shevack is founder of The Association for Universal Judaism (www.universaljudaism.org) and the Bucks County Free Synagogue in Bucks County, PA (www.buckscountyfreesynagogue.com).
Prior to his ordination, Rabbi Shevack was a Madison Avenue Creative Director. He wrote and created the ad campaign "Gillette—the Best a Man Can Get," which is still running in 120 countries around the world. He won many national and international awards, including the coveted Cannes Film Festival Lion, for his work for Apple Computers.
Rabbi Shevack combines his communication talents with his spiritual calling, dedicating himself to helping religious groups and worthy non-profit organizations create their identity and discover their voice. He has done work for Gateways (Orthodox Jewish), Communion & Liberation (Catholic), Charlotte Congregationalist Church (U.C.C.), First Church of Religious Science, and many others. He created a new image campaign for the largest Islamic group in the U.S., CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, as well as the launch-campaign for United Religions Initiative, an inter-religious organization. In both of these, his fundraising films helped produce sizeable revenue. He's been a consultant to many non-profit organizations, including AARP, Different Future, the Global Security Institute (UN NGO), and he created the concept for the Daisy Alliance.
Rabbi Shevack has been a guest lecturer at New York University, Boston University, and the Universities of Milan, Venice, Padova, and Madrid. He has appeared in the media around the world, including PBS and coast-to-coast radio shows, speaking about religious reconciliation, spirituality, and the experience of God. His column on spirituality and business appeared in Success magazine.
Rabbi Shevack lives in Bucks County, PA with his wife, artist Teddy Frank and three children, Christian, Adam, and Zoe.
