Rabbi Michael Shevack

Rabbi Michael ShevackRabbi Shevack serves as treasurer of the Patton Foundation, founded by Helen Patton, the granddaughter of General Patton, a humanitarian organization to help soldiers and their families as well as communities and nations around the world. He is also the founder and rabbi of Bucks County Free Synagogue, in Bucks County, PA.

Prior to his ordination, Rabbi Shevack was a Madison Avenue Creative Director. He wrote and created the ad campaign "Gillette—the Best a Man Can Get," which is still running in 120 countries around the world. He won many national and international awards, including the coveted Cannes Film Festival Lion, for his work for Apple Computers.

Through his consulting firm, In the Image, Inc., Rabbi Shevack combines his communication talents with his spiritual calling. He dedicates himself to helping religious groups and worthy non-profit organizations create their identity and discover their voice. He has done work for Gateways (Orthodox Jewish), Communion & Liberation (Catholic), Charlotte Congregationalist Church (U.C.C.), First Church of Religious Science, and many others. He created a new image campaign for the largest Islamic group in the U.S., CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, as well as the launch-campaign for United Religions Initiative, an inter-religious organization. In both of these, his fundraising films helped produce sizeable revenue. He’s been a consultant to many non-profit organizations, including AARP, Different Future, the Global Security Institute (UN NGO), and he created the concept for Daisy Alliance, a grass-roots movement for eradicating weapons of mass destruction. He continues to work with the Center for Inter-religious Understanding, in Englewood New Jersey.

He has been Director of Communications at the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport Connecticut, adjunct professor at SUNY, Stony Brook, where he taught comparative religion and spirituality in the Department for Social Welfare. He also served on the board of directors for the Center for Spirituality and Health Education at Stony Brook.

Rabbi Shevack has been a guest lecturer at New York University, Boston University, and the Universities of Milan, Venice, Padova, and Madrid. He has appeared in the media around the world, including PBS and coast-to-coast radio shows, speaking about religious reconciliation, spirituality, and the experience of God. He’s also been a guest speaker at the Whole Life Expo, in its time, the largest “new age” conference in the country. He is active in the Focolare movement of the Catholic Church.

Rabbi Shevack is author/co-author of four books, his latest being Adam & Eve, Marriage Secrets from the Garden of Eden was recently released in Italy. His book, Dialogo Fraterno (Brotherly Dialogue) was published in Italy at the request of the late Mon. Luigi Giussani, founder of the Communion and Liberation movement. His co-authored book on the teachings of Vatican II, Our Age. The historic new era of Christian-Jewish Understanding, received the honor of a foreword by the late John Cardinal O’Connor. He is also the co-author of Stupid Ways, Smart Ways to Think about God. His column on the spirituality-of-business appeared in Success Magazine.

Rabbi Shevack lives in Bucks County, PA with his wife, artist Teddy Frank, and three children, Christian, Adam, and Zoe.
