"Clean Energy Bank" legislation, sponsored by Senate Energy Committee
Chairman Jeff Bingaman and Rep. Jay Inslee provides unlimited taxpayer
loan guarantees for the construction of new nuclear reactors.
This legislation would allow the nuclear power industry to build as
many nuclear reactors as they want, regardless of cost or
projected default rates. This will rob us of needed
research and development on the only real solution, alternative energy
sources.
Write or call your House member and Speaker Nancy Pelosi and urge them to vote against this legislation.
Or call (202) 224-3121 to speak to your representative. |

Feature Articles Tactics in a Cosmic War
Reza Aslan, author of How to Win a Cosmic War: God, Globalization, and the end of the War on Terror, argues
that former President Bush made the war on terror a war on Islam by
couching it in religious terms. While President Obama has
eliminated the religious subtext, Aslan argues that this is only the
first step, and the U.S. still needs to address many issues in
order to repair the rift between the U.S. and the Muslim world. Full Article
Chain Reaction
Joseph Cirincione, author of Bomb Scare: The History and Future of Nuclear Weapons, discusses
the U.S. 123 agreement with the United Arab Emirates that was created
at the end of the Bush Administration. In
Cirincione's opinion, the deal was hastily put together and lacks
the necessary security provisions. Cirincione recommends not
rushing the agreements so as to prevent a potentially dangerous deal.

Corporation of New York, composes a letter for President Obama to send
to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to open up a dialogue.

recommending concrete solutions to form the basis of a
relationship between the U.S. and Iran that will allow the two
states to work together to stabilize the region. |
