Take Action!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, commited citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  -Margaret Mead

President Obama's Prague Speech in April, calling for the global elimination of nuclear weapons, has reinvigorated the nonproliferation and disarmament movement.  One of the most important concrete steps that can be taken at this time to move towards this goal is the U.S. ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).  This will not only signal to the international community U.S. commitment to nonproliferation and disarmament, but will also put pressure on other holdouts, such as Israel and India, to ratify the treaty.

Click here to call or email your Senator and ask them to ratify the CTBT immediately.

In the News: U.S. to Abandon European Missile Shield?

The Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, citing lobbyists and a Congressional Source, recently reported that the Obama administration will abandon its missile defense plans in Poland and the Czech Republic.  The Global Security Newswire reports that several other sites are being considered and that this change of plans may indicate the desire of the Obama administration to strengthen U.S.-Russia ties.  Plans for U.S. missile defense systems in Poland and teh Czech Republic have been highly contentious and have contributed to increased tensions between the U.S. and Russia. Full Story
However, a few days later, the U.S. called that report inaccurate.  See Story
